WhisperSom Corporation (whispersom.com/our-team-inv/), a startup based in Annapolis, MD,  is a medical device and informatics company founded in 2014 that merged with Sleep Science LLC in 2019. The Company’s first product is a patent-pending medical diagnostic, monitoring and treatment device for sleep apnea that requires nothing on the face, in the mouth or in the nose that removes the #1 patient objection to diagnosis and treatment – CPAP, an oral appliance, or surgical implant.

OtoNexus Medical Technologies (otonexus.com), based in Seattle, Washington, is finalizing development of, and commercializing, the world’s first medical device to provide the definitive, objective diagnostic data required to instantly and accurately diagnose middle ear infections, or Otitis Media, in children and adults. A simple and elegant solution, the device applies a well-known medical technology, ultrasound, in a completely novel way to achieve a key advance in differentiating when and when not to prescribe antibiotics.

Virion Therapeutics, LLC (viriontx.com), a Delaware based company, is developing novel immune therapies for cancers and infectious diseases.  Virion’s technology solves a series of problems faced by others in that it enhances the recognition of CD8+ T cells (aka “killer” T cells) to key areas of tumors or infections and increases T cells’ resistance to exhaustion and death. As a result, T cells produced following vaccination show improved clinical outcomes in animals when compared to other treatments in development. Lastly, the technology has lower risk for serious adverse events as compared to current immune therapies on the market (e.g. antibody checkpoint inhibitors).

Seneca Therapeutics (senecatherapeutics.com), based in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, is developing a pipeline of best-in-class oncolytic immunotherapies that are highly effective in testing cancer patients with solid cancers.  Its initial product uses the nonpathogenic Seneca Valley Virus isolate 001 (SVV-001).  SVV-001 is a targeted immunotherapy that selectively kills cancer cells expressing the SVV-001 receptor TEM-8, and converts the tumor microenvironment from cold to hot.

TrackX (trackx.tech), based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, has been working in the fluoroscopy space for almost a decade.  Radiation exposure during x-ray guided medical procedures causes significant health concerns to everyone in the operating room, from patients to physicians alike.  Surgeons have a significant increase in their rate of cancer, cataracts, and a host of other medical conditions.  TrackX is the only FDA cleared, virtual fluoroscopy product that allows orthopedic surgeons to track their surgical tools during x-ray guided medical procedures without the high radiation exposure.

SPARROW

Sparrow (sparrowup.com) is an artificial intelligence (A.I.) powered technology/software company based in New York City. Its first product is an App called Sparrow Golf, which uses our proprietary A.I. to analyze golfers’ golf swings and provide accurate feedback and instruction in real time. Sparrow’s A.I. technology was developed to allow the company to rapidly scale into all other major sports, with an emphasis on affordable and technical athletic improvement for anyone

Curtana Pharmaceuticals (www.curtanapharma.com), based in Austin, Texas, commenced trading in 2013.  The firm is developing highly targeted therapies for the treatment of brain cancer, including glioblastoma in adults and medulloblastoma in children.  Patients typically are treated with surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. Unfortunately, current treatments offer little hope of significantly prolonging a patient’s life.  Curtana is advancing a novel small molecule therapy, CT-179, which has been shown to significantly prolong survival in relevant animal models. The target is Olig2, a cancer stem cell-associated transcription factor that is critical for tumor initiation and growth.

 

CamDo Solutions Inc. (cam-do.com), located in Vancouver, British Columbia, has in the past focused on camera solutions to the construction industry time lapse market. CamDo has now developed a Computer Vision (CV) solution to materially increase worker safety and productivity. Its new “UpShot” Internet of Things (IoT) camera exploits machine learning wicam-do.comth a unique combination of power supply options and connectivity at an affordable price. The cameras provide visual data and actionable insights to allow construction managers to take corrective action, even from remote locations.
